Bab III. Electricity and Energy
HEAT WITH ELECTRICS POTENTIAL DIFFERENCE.
I. Objective:
Observe between heats with electricses potential differences.
II. Equipment and Materials:
a. strand of metal nikelin along the length of 1 metre
b. five battery
c. a shear resistance
d. a switch, a ammeter
e. a voltmeter
f. a stopwatch
g. a thermometer
III. Basic theory:
A charge object has a potential energy by firtue of its location in a electric field. Work is required to push acharged particle against the electric field of a charge body. This work changes the electrick potential energy of the charge particle. The work done in pushing a positively charge particle closer to the positively charge sphere increase the potential energy of the charge particle. We call energy prossesed by the carge particle that is due its location electric potential energy.
If we push a particle with twice a charge, we do twice as much work. Twice the charge in the same location has the twice potential energy; with three times a charge, there is three times as much potential energy and so on. When working with electricity, rather than dealing with total potential energy of a charge body, it is convenient to consider the electricity potential energy per charge. We simply devide the amount of energy by the amount of charge. The concept electric energy per charge is called electric potential. (Hewitt, Paul G.;2007 : 122-123)
IV. Procedures
1. Gird strand of metal nikelin at thermometer bar. Then, compile network like below picture.
2. Tide a battery with network. Place shear resistance contact point at dimiciling is maximal.
3. Note thermometer initial temperature at tables.
4. Connect switch. Note read of volt and ammeter metre at tables.
5. Animate stopwatch. Note increase of thermometer temperature after 5 minute at tables.
6. Tide two battery and repeat step of 2-4.
V. Observation Table
No. Amount of batteries Initial temperature (0C) Voltmeter (V) Ammeter (A) Final temperature (0C)
VI. Question
1. How tension influence to increase of thermometer temperature?
2. Write your conclution!
