PLANT GROWTH
A. Purpose
a. To determine the difference of plant growth velocity of peanuts.
b. To know several factors that influence growth process of peanuts.
B. Theory
By definition, growth simply mean increase in mass. However, when biologist states that growth is a characteristic of live, he does not mean that every living organism is adding to it’s total quantity at all times or that every cell in a complex body is syntesizing more protoplasm. The statement that growth is a characteristic of live means that protoplasm exhibits the potentiality of growth, although in cases where cells are sufficiently specialized as to have lost the ability to increasetheir total mass, growth occurs only in extremely limited sense that cellular parts are replaced as they were out. (Neal D. Bufalloe;1962)
There are many kind of factor which influence of plant growth, like as light,water, source of minerals,etc.

1. Prepare 9 different kinds of planting media.

F. Discussion and Evaluation of Growth Experiment Demonstration
In last experiment demonstration about growth experiment we can say that during demonstration, interaction between students and teacher have enough interactive. It is indicated by many questions and suggestion.
Firstly, we begin to introduce the materials and tools and also the characteristics needed in this experiment one by one. Method of our experiment about growth is prepare 9 different kinds of planting media, fill the planting media with soil, plant the peanuts in planting media, give label A1, B1, C1 for first experiment and A2, B2, C2 for second experiment and A3,B3, C3 for last experiment. For first experiment, we examine influence of light intensity. Label A1 as control and it is take place in normal area for example in front of science laboratory. Label B1 is placed in dark place (in indoor). Label C1 is placed in light place (outdoor) example in front of Mathematics and Science Faculty or yard area. Then, for second experiment, we examine influence kinds of fertilizer. Label A2 is gave soil without fertilizer, the label B2 natural fertilizer. In label C2 is gave chemist fertilizer. While, third experiment we examine about kinds of water. The label A3 is gave pure water, and the label B3 is gave river water. And label C3 is gave rice wash water. After that, we observe, measure and noting the result in the perception table.
In the experiment demonstration, there are many shortages such as: we don’t demonstrate of pouring water to the planting media and giving a fertilizer to the plants so the understanding about this experiment not clearly and makes students still confuse.
As a teacher we should explain and demonstrated the step of experiment clearly so students can understand exactly what they must do in this experiment. We must speaking loudly and clearly. The important point is, every teacher and assistants must understand the subject matter, purpose, and step method of this experiments. We should demonstrated how and how much water that must pour to planting media, it will be better if use one of tools as a measurement tools so all planting media get same total water volume, for example use measure glass.
In this experiment demonstrated there are not holes in planting media. Whereas, the holes is very important in planting media. It will control water capacity in planting media. So, if profuse of water occurred, the water will released through the hole. If there are not hole, the peanut will never grow but putrid exactly if profuse of water occurred.
According to experiment method, this experiment about peanuts growth during one week or 7 days. And have knew before that one of the purpose of this experiments is to examine influence of fertilizer capacity in peanut growth. Whereas, base on literature about peanuts cultivations, peanuts will gave fertilizer after at least 10 days from planting days. So, 7 days is not enough for this experiment. This experiment needs at least two weeks or 14 days to reach all purpose of this experiment.
From measuring technique point of view, it will better if use for example palm leaf rib for ease measuring, because it will lack of validity if the rules placed in planting soil directly. It caused by pouring water will make the soil around peanuts plans became go down and the soil became not flat, so it will influenced the result of measuring.
In this experiments include of 3 experiment with different variables. It is felt make things difficult for students. It will be better if arranged for 3 different experiments in different time or do in same time but it is did by different groups. For example, group 1 do first experiment, group2 do second experiment, and group 3 do last experiments and after get the result of their experiments they can exchange the data result and discuss each other.
G. Conclusion
During demonstration, interaction between students and teacher have enough interactive. It is indicated by many questions and suggestion.
